41 Reasons to Join the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce
One of the most important benefits of becoming a paid member of the Rexburg Area Chamber of Commerce is the right to vote on Chamber issues. This right is described in our by-laws:
- “SECTION THREE: Voting Rights – All members in good standing (in “good standing” shall mean assessed dues paid in full) shall have equal voting rights, and each shall be entitled to one vote” in choosing Chamber Board members. You should have a say in who represents you in the decision-making process. If you have two or more businesses and you pay dues for two or more, you will have an equal amount of votes.
- RIBBON CUTTINGS – The Chamber will sponsor a ribbon cutting for your business and will invite the Rexburg Regents to attend. The Chamber will notify the media and invite the mayor to attend. The Chamber will also take a photo that will be framed and presented for display in your business.
- FORUM SPOTLIGHT – You will be presented with your framed photo (from your ribbon cutting) and be the featured guest in a 3-5 minute “spotlight” in one of our monthly Chamber Forums.
- MONTHLY NEWSLETTER – A monthly newsletter filled with excellent information about future events, new businesses, legal/legislative updates, ribbon cutting pictures and more is listed each month on our web site. You have the opportunity to be spotlighted with a ˝ page write up twice a year. Please make sure to ask about this.
- BUYERS GUIDE - Your business will be listed in an annual publication of the Membership Directory & Buyers’ Guide - 6,000 distributed by the Rexburg Standard Journal Newspaper. You will also be placed in our on-line directory featured on the Chambers website. To be included in the hard copy you will need to be a member and have paid your dues by March 31. You are allowed listings under different categories in both directories making it easier for buyers to find out what services you offer.
- INTERNET - Your business will receive a premier listing on the Internet that will give Internet users a map to your location, and a link to your email address and website.
- DISPLAYS - If your business manufactures items in Rexburg, the items may be displayed on a rotating basis in the Chamber of Commerce Tourist Information Center.
- “ASK A BUSINESS PRO” - Your business may call into the Chamber office and use our “Ask a Business Pro” service, and we will find out who can answer your questions. We will refer you to a qualified business professional.
- TAXES - Your membership dues are a business expense and are tax deductible. You will receive a full color membership shield to place on your door or window to acknowledge Chamber membership and participation.
- HELPING THE COMMUNITY - Your dues sponsor the Whoopee Days activities, including the fireworks display.
- HELPING THE COMMUNITY - Your dues help sponsor the annual Family Easter Egg Hunt.
- “SHOP REXBURG” – The Vision Committee sponsors many merchant activities to promote your business.
- TOURISM - Tourism recruitment and information services are designed to keep visitors in our area and increase the new dollars available to Rexburg’s economy. We advertise, send out area information to other visitor centers, and plan events that bring people in from all over the country and, well actually, all over the world! We also plan events which your business or organization can participate in such as the Street Festival, Rexburg Unplugged, Whoopee Days, etc. These events always bring more people to our town.
- TOURISM - Free brochures, maps, information, and website access about our area and state are available to promote better business. Our website – www.rexcc.com - won first place among 1,000 Chamber sites. As a member you can place brochures in our visitor information area for tourists. We offer this information free to the public. We have thousands of hits on our website, calls, and visitors each year some through the chamber and you are part of it as a member!
- LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION - The office keeps a file of pending legislation and how it may affect your business. We also e-mail this information out to members so they are updated about his information.
- REPRESENTATION - You will receive representation from the following Chamber Committees, each working to improve the economic climate in our area: Idaho International Dance & Music Festival; Forums & seminars; legal; legislative; Whoopee Days; Economic Development; education; membership; Regents; special events; tourism; agriculture; promotions & publicity. You are welcome as a member to participate in these committees and let your voice be heard.
- FORUMS AND SEMINARS - The Chamber holds seminars and forums on issues that face us as a community and as business owners. As a member you will receive a monthly e-mail informing you of the topic of discussion. This is very helpful to you so that you can get to know other business owners, and professionals, as well as learn what is going on in our community so you are aware of changes and challenges, and opportunities you may want to know about as a business.
- INQUIRIES – As a chamber we receive thousands of inquires a year asking about businesses and services here in Rexburg. As a member we have Individual listings of each business type, which includes each business name, and these are sent out with each Chamber inquiry. Our inquires are sent by e-mail, mail and of course over the phone.
- SUPPORT - The Chamber provides you with the collective strength of members for the support of issues affecting your business and community. You also gain a network of professionals to share their knowledge and expertise.
- ACTIVE COMMUNITY BETTERMENT - You will have the knowledge that you are participating in a united effort to make Rexburg a better place to live and do business.
- COMMUNITY - You have the opportunity to be involved with events of members of the Chamber by activity on the Chamber Board.
- MYSTERY SHOPPER PROGRAM – The Chamber will provide you with “mystery shoppers” who will fill out a questionnaire you request that will assess your business ambiance, service, and efficiency. Call the Chamber for details at 356-5700.
- ADVERTISEMENT - You may leave business cards available for travelers or locals to pick up at the Chamber office.
- INTERNATIONAL DANCE AND MUSIC FESTIVAL - One pair of coupons for free bleacher seats to the Idaho International Dance & Music Festival is given with each Chamber membership, upon request.
- CERTICIATES OF ORIGIN - The Chamber can issue “Certificates of Origin” for shipping merchandise internationally.
- REXBURG UNPLUGGED - You may attend Rexburg Unplugged: New Students Meet the Business Community Day and reserve your booth free of charge as a member. This event is attend by thousands of students each fall and is a great way to let them know about your businesses and service.
- REXBURG UNPLUGGED - You will be able to include a flier in the Rexburg Unplugged packets, information that is handed out to new students at the beginning of each semester. At least 1,500 packets go out a year.
- U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE - The Rexburg Chamber of Commerce is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which in turn qualifies your business to automatically become a member of the U.S. Chamber with same benefits.
- BULK MAILINGS - You will have use of the Chamber of Commerce bulk postage permit when you have a bulk mailing of 200 or more to do.
- WEBSITE ADVERTISEMENTS - You have the weekly opportunity to advertise on the available banner ad space on our website for a low cost.
- INFORM OTHER MEMBERS - You have the weekly opportunity to e-blast chamber members timely notification on seminars and upcoming events.
- WEB SERVICES - Receive a 15% discount on website development services – EZ Net Tools.
- MEMBER TO MEMBER DISCOUNT PROGRAM – Members receive discounts from businesses who are members of the Chamber. You may list these on line for additional exposure at no cost.
- MONDAY MORNING MAILINGS – Every Monday, each member will receive an email stating important information such as City Council Agenda and updated calendar of events, along with monthly specials from various member businesses.
- MONTHLY EMPLOYEE TRAINING SEMINARS – Every third Wednesday of the month, beginning in January 2011, the Chamber provides an Employee Training Seminar for businesses to bring their employees from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. to learn about important issues such as Conflict Management and Powerful Communication Skills.
- WELCOME PACKETS FOR HOSPITAL – Every two-three months, the Chamber puts together a small packet for new mothers at the Madison Memorial Hospital. This packet includes free discounts or gifts from companies who are members of the Chamber to help promote their business. You may participate.
- NEW MEMBER INCENTIVE PROGRAM – The top three businesses who bring in companies who become members of the chamber will receive $150/$100/$50 reward at our Annual Farmer Merchant Community Banquet in March.
- ONLINE WEB SPECIALS – Members will receive the privilege to post weekly online specials, at no cost – included with membership.
- BUSINESS EXPO – Opportunity to network with other area businesses, public and larger purchasers. Workshops available for start-up businesses. Great networking tool for local businesses.
- CHOSEN BUSINESS - Your business may be chosen as Business of the Month or a Highlighted Business at one of our forums, giving you the opportunity to present your business foe 2-3 minutes.
- SIGN BOARD – Members are able to use one of our sign boards for one month. Just come in and sign one out for the month that you need it. Highlighted businesses at our forums are able to use one for a month also.
